Long distance bridal shower?
I am the MOH and the bride lives half way across the country from me. Her friends and family are also disbursed throughout the country, however there are clusters of people here and there. Problem: I want to throw her a bridal shower, but she will not be able to attend anything away from where she's living due to a medical condition. Having people travel to see her is not an option either. How do I throw her a long distance bridal shower? Etiquette? What's proper?
OK, not knowing the details on the medical condition or other wedding plans here is my idea.
Have the shower the weekend of the wedding (like the other answerer suggested) but do it combined/followed by a late lunch/early rehearsal dinner at the same venue before the wedding rehearsal. Then have the rehearsal then the wedding party can relax or go out or whatever. This can solve a bunch of problems.
-You can throw her the shower...very nice of you
-logistics: wedding party will be together
-etiquette: out of town guests can attend the shower and they should be invited to the rehearsal dinner anyway (invite shower guests to shower and dinner, invite rest of out of town guests to dinner only)
-medical: bride can be in one place and hopefully relax and not be running around so much (if that is a health issue)
