Why does coloring not matter?
I see so many people say that coloring does not matter when you are looking for a dog, that it should be the last thing on your mind... but why? I am, in essence, buying something to include into my life. Why should I not be happy with it in every way?
In the long run, did you not pick your breed in the end because you prefer the way they look? I mean, 200+ breeds, I'm sure I could find another that has the same basic qualities that drew me to the GSD. But I love their noble, elegant look, and I prefer them physically above all else. Most bully breeds have a similar temperament, but IMHO staffys and bull terriers are hideous. So I prefer the APBT, a beautiful breed in my mind.
For example, I want my next shepherd to be a dark sable. So why should I not look until I find a sable pup?

In my breed, I am not fond of Dals with hardly any spots like the dog on the right:

And would prefer black over liver. Domino is everything I could have asked for in a Dal; temperament, well-bred and the spotting I like.
When I'm choosing a new dog, I go for temperament first, then genetics, then colour. But yes, I do agree you should get what you want, even if that means possibly passing by many others that didn't fit your colour" criteria, as harsh as that sounds.
